Model is wearing a coat smock, circa 1860. Favoured by agricultural workers and later adopted by Liberty of London as a sort of artisan chic style. The Book is "Oscariana", a collection of aphorisms by Oscar Wilde, bound in fine calf, gold embossed and published in 1910 by Arthur L Humphreys.
